It's Time to Get off the Floor
John had back surgery, Lorraine had a hip replacement, and Mary lives alone. What do these people have in common? They all want to continue to exercise and stay mobile and independent, but they don’t want to get down and up from the floor to do it!
Floor exercises such as crunches, leg lifts, bridges, hip extensions, plank, and more are very beneficial, especially as we get older. Research shows that regular exercise, particularly those that increase strength and flexibility, can prevent bone loss as we age, relieve osteoarthritis pain, improve balance and prevent falls, boost our mood, and help ward off some chronic disease, including cognitive decline.
However, many older adults have difficulty getting down and up from the floor, which prevents them from reaping these benefits. For some people who live alone, there may be a fear of not being able to get back up. (Remember that famous commercial? It might have been funny, but being stuck on the floor is no laughing matter!) As a result, they stop doing the exercises they need to stay strong and mobile.
Why Can’t I Exercise on My Bed/Mattress?
A good quality mattress can provide a restorative nights’ sleep, but it’s not effective for exercising and stretching. Even the firmest mattress does not provide the proper support to exercise effectively. Not only is exercising on a mattress more difficult, but it also causes poor, improper form, which can do more harm than good. However, you can easily transform your mattress into an effective exercise surface with the PhysioBoard.
The PhysioBoard was designed by a physical therapist to help her patients exercise at home on their beds. Many patients were seeing real progress while attending physical therapy and using exercise tables, but once therapy ended they were unable to continue to do their exercises at home on the floor. As they say, if you don’t use it, you lose it! The progress her patients made was quickly lost when they stopped exercising.
Buying an exercise table is expensive and it takes up a lot of space. Besides, who wants an unsightly exercise table in the middle of their bedroom? The solution needed to provide a sturdy surface, yet be lightweight and portable for easy storage.
The Solution is PhysioBoard

PhysioBoard is made of a unique lightweight yet sturdy material that provides a firm surface for exercising. It has a foam pad for comfort (like a yoga mat) and a medical grade fabric cover that is both water and bacteria resistant. The cover can also be removed for washing.
When you’re ready to exercise, simply put the PhysioBoard on any bed. Do your exercises as if you were on the floor, and when you’re done, easily move the board behind a door or store in the closet.
Don't give up the benefits of exercise! You can stay strong and flexible without risking injury or falls or struggling to get up from the floor. To learn more go to www.physioboard.net
